Who are we?

Academia Sóller, formerly Academia Mayfair, is a highly respected and established language school founded in 1992, consisting of three classrooms centrally located on the main square. Our views of the mountains from the classrooms are spectacular. The plaza itself is a hub of activity flanked by cafes and restaurants. It hosts all of the local festivals and in July becomes the stage for an annual world music and dance festival, Sa Mostra.

We are the only multi-language school in the region, offering Spanish and Catalán courses in addition to English, German, French and any other language on request. Our team of teachers are highly qualified and experienced, and most importantly they are native speakers.

Where are we?

Palma, the capital city of the Balearic Islands, and its international airport are half an hour’s drive from Sóller.

Sóller is a town with a population of around 14,000, situated 3km inland in a valley of olive trees and orange groves. There is also the Port of Sóller with its seaside restaurants and bars along a pleasant beach and marina. The region is hugely attractive to independent tourists looking for an authentic experience within the most beautiful corner of the Mediterranean benefiting from year-round tourism with its beautiful beaches and mountains in such close proximity. It is the ideal place in which to learn Spanish and experience Mediterranean culture.

The dramatic and rural Tramuntana Mountains make the region a varied and interesting place to live and visit in all seasons, especially if you like to walk and cycle. There are many little villages in the area to explore such as Fornalutx, Deiá, Llucalcari and Biniaraix, and the year round local festivals and traditions in each town and village are particularly special to experience.

Sóller is a community in which friendships are forged and traditions maintained and can reward the visitor with a local feeling often lost in the anonymous cities. We have a museum and numerous art galleries, many cafés, restaurants and bars, a central shopping district, hotels (catering to all budgets), a substantial Saturday market, good public transport (train, tram and bus), and all the amenities of Palma on our doorstep. Both Spanish and Catalán are spoken.
